The Tropics, in a dramatic third period comeback, bring home the hardware for the second time in franchise history. "Sweet" Johnny Kozar opened the scoring with a first period wrister to the top corner. Red Rum played a great second period and were able to get two goals past Y2Joe Harris, but it would prove to be too little. The Tropics came out roaring in the third period, and after continued pressure on Red Rum, "The Roadrunner" Fraser Chalmers put the biscuit in the basket to tie things up. Minutes later, a brilliant read of the boards by "Old Guy" Doug Vanderbilt, saw the puck deflect off the corner glass and bounce straight to his stick. It was as if time stopped for a few seconds, but he controlled it, and rifled it into the back of the net with ease. Tropics up by one, and only three minutes to go. After a furious rally by the Red Rum team, which was continually turned back by brilliant net minding and team defense, the buzzer sounded and jubilation began! The crowd roared, and the horns blew and they
were dancing in the streets of Ballston.

The Tropics dispensed of the Brewins in dominating fashion Friday night at Kettler Capitals IcePlex. After a penalty kill that kept the Brewins hemmed in their own end for nearly the entire two minutes, the Tropics lit the lamp when Moore fired a laser to the top corner after jumping up on the play from the point. The next thing the Brewins knew, it was 3-0 and the first frame had come to a close. Y2Joe Harris then stole the show with a dazzling performance that had the Brewins scorers baffled and frustrated. The Tropics would pot two more in the third to seal the deal and take the victory 5-1. The Tropics will meet Red Rum, the number one seed from the regular season, next Friday at 9:30pm. The Kettler Cup is on the line, so the game will surely be one of intensity and fire. Be there!!

The Tropics finished off the Clusterpucks in the first round of the playoffs with a 3-2 overtime winner by Tom Moore! The Tropics looked shaky for the first 2 periods with lackluster play, and some bad bounces. The fans were worried right off the bat when a squeaker went into the net between the post and skate of goaltender Joe Harris. The Clusterpucks would strike again in the second with a blistering shot on a rebound putting the Tropics down by two going into the third. Cliff Wilks would strike first for the Tropics with a nice one-timer in front off a pass from Johnny Kozar. The Captain would strike again, leveling the score only seconds later and with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation. Overtime would be needed to settle this battle with their long-time rivals, but not much of it. Only 33 seconds into OT, Moore slid down the left side, fired a low hard shot, and followed it up with a few jabs at the puck until it trickled over the line, and pandemonium ensued!
The Tropics have been practicing hard all week for the next opponent, The Brewins.
