The Tropics are a C1 hockey club that plays on Friday nights at the Kettler Capitals IcePlex in Arlington, VA. The club's inaugural season was in 2008. After a dismal season as the Rhinos, the team's management decided a name and colors change was in the club's best interests, and the Tropics were born. Success soon followed with a championship trophy just two seasons later. Though the Tropics have not won another title since, they are always a contender for the Cup.
The Tropics finished the Winter 2010/2011 season with the 2nd seed heading into the playoffs.
